Palermo hosts a few Park Run options, mine was Foro Italico Park Run which offered a lovely coastal course with a great view (and breeze) whilst running.  The layout consisted of three laps, a very flat course on pavement, grass and some gravel, so not too bad.  On my visit the UK was very well represented with England, Scotland and Ireland participants, nice to chat and hear some of their journeys.

The race director Ricardo and volunteers were extremely helpful on the day and informative via email before the run.  They came armed with water pistols, boiled sweets and cold drinks and a bundle of enthusiasm.  On the day there were approximately 40 participants, they obviously have their regulars, they welcome lots of visitors and they support and invest time and energy with local associations encouraging younger generations to get involved. I didn’t break any PB’s on this occasion, focus was to run together (team spirit) to get us all across the line and not to leave anyone behind, similar ethos to RCR
