This event has been long-awaited and anticipated due to a lapse in these events since Covid disrupted our lives. It has taken a lot of planning and a big thank you goes out to all those involved in the planning of this fantastic evening. It was a great success.

On 25th November 2023, the main event began at 7:30pm though a team of RCR members came earlier to get everything set up. Food at 8pm was a buffet which was a lovely spread of pizzas, chicken kebabs, sausage rolls, halloumi bites, pulled pork baps and so much more. Plenty to feed our hungry runners.

At 9pm we began the awards presentations. There were very deserved recipients of the awards given out this year. The awards given and the recipients are as follows

The Jan Reeve Trophy – Purple Spirit Award – Marcus Brown

This award was given to the person that has shown the true purple spirit by attending nearly all sessions offered by the club, running lots of races/park runs in race kit and and can mostly be seen running in the clubs purple colours on club nights too. Well done Marcus!

The Stuart Masters Trophy – Race Face Photo of the Year – Glen Page/Carl Stannard

This award was given to two recipients as one showed pure joy (Glen) and one showed the face of what most runners feel, the ‘I’m a runner…..Get me out of Here!!’ face (Carl). I’ll let you decide which one is which.

The Richard Fellingham Trophy – Achievement of the Year – Sally Brown

The Achievement of the Year award was given to someone who has achieved so much. It’s not all about distances and speed but more about effort. Sally has attended nearly all sessions and at the Suffolk Coastal 10, persevered through to the end despite a struggle. It took amazing effort both mentally and physically and this is what the award embodies. Great work Sally!

The William Coe Trophy – Member’s Choice Award – Teresa Brown

This award was voted on by the whole club and was for the person we felt had made a huge positive impact on the club. It was a very difficult decision as there were many nominees to choose from and the winner overall was Teresa Brown for doing a massive amount of work promoting the club on social media as well as being a committee member and active member of the club. Well deserved, Teresa.

Of course after the presentation of the awards the dancing started and the dance floor was full for the rest of the evening. Massive thanks go to all the organisers of the event, to Coes of Ipswich for all of their support and sponsorship and for Venue 16 for being a wonderful venue.
