I decided in December 2023 that I needed to get my fitness back so signed up for the RCR Run25 course. I had done this course previously prior to lockdown but one thing and another got out of the habit of running.
Signing up to RCR was an easy decision, up to now my running involvement was getting my wife Sharon to the start line of various events around the country and on all of the local events RCR always stood out as one of the more engaging and friendly clubs.
The Run25 course was excellent and I quickly went from not being able to run 200 metres to regularly running 5K distances. The leaders and run buds were excellent and made it so much easier running on a Tue night in the dark, cold and rain and its good to see others that I did the course with still regularly running on Tuesdays with the club.
Since running again I have re-discovered the fun of Park runs and Parkrun tourism. So far this year I have run at 15 different locations and planning to make it at least 20 by the end of the year.
I may not be the quickest, but joining up was one of the best decisions I have made in a long time.
