Formed in 2017 Rushmere Community Runners (RCR) is a community running group that offers group running for mixed abilities. A friendly, supportive group of like-minded runners who enjoy running in the company of others, RCR is a place where everybody is welcomed regardless of ability. Whether they are just starting out on their running journey with Couch to 5K, through to those who are already experienced runners competing in events, there is always somebody on hand to help and offer encouragement. With qualified coaches and Run Leaders at every session, RCR offers the perfect environment for safe group running, that is also fun and enjoyable for all.
All runners come together on a Tuesday for group activities, regardless of ability and fitness levels. These sessions offer a rotating programme of intervals, hills, speed and physical activity, which will help increase fitness levels and running goals. Led by qualified Athletic coaches and Leaders in Running Fitness, these sessions are suitable for all as participants work at their own levels.
Tuesday evening also sees RCR’s popular Couch to 5K programme. These eight-week courses run periodically throughout the year and are aimed at the absolute beginner or for those that would like to return to running having taken a break through injury etc. A one off payment of £10 is required for this course, which includes a finisher’s medal and certificate.
Thursday nights are when RCR’s group running takes place. Runners split into different paced groups and led by a Run Leader head out onto the roads for an enjoyable run. These group runs enable runners to take part in their sport in the safety of others where all abilities are catered for whether you have just completed the Couch to 5K course or you are training for your next big event.
RCR meet twice a week at Ipswich School Sports Centre, The Street, Rushmere at 6.30pm, where there is plenty of free parking and activities to suit all abilities. Sessions at RCR are bookable via the www.runtogether.co.uk where you can register to run with RCR and, you will also find a full description of all of the activities available.
